We all are facing this pandemic Covid-19 but this disease also brings a lot of problems like plastic waste of PPE kits , masks , gloves etc. I know that no one now talking about but it stills a problem from not by today but also from many years every where when plastic bag free day come people just post some pictures Make the world plastic free if this will work then today i am not talking about this posting pictures and say a slogan is enough ? except the reality come forward to at least make our world free from this upcoming disaster Plastic waste because world is now under weight of Garbage of plastic.
Today we will do a fine analysis of plastic waste generating every year and how much we recover or treat this waste.
It is estimated that generation and demand of plastic all over world get double and disaster from this plastic also getting double not for only humans but also for aquatic life , stray animals also get harmed when they eat such plastic and faces dangerous disease which we even can't imagine because we just throw it everywhere and then forget about that because this is not in front of our house so this not matters us. In 2016 world generated about 242 million plastic and this waste primarily generated from three regions 57 million tonnes from East Asia and the pacific , 45 million tonnes from Europe and Central Asia and 35 million tonnes from North America.
The visibility of plastic waste is increasing because of its accumulation in recent decades and its negative impact on the surrounding environment and human health. Unlike organic waste plastic takes about 80,000 years to decompose completely and glass takes 1-1.5 lakh years. Every year about thousands of plastic waste drown into oceans which directly affect aquatic life due to this their life spawn get shorten. Plastic waste mainly enters the environment when it is poorly managed , such as through open dumping , open burning and disposal in waterways. Even when plastic waste is collected many countries do not have capacity to process the waste so they dumped all the waste into seas and oceans.
How the situation is bad in India ?
The situation of plastic waste is much worse than any country where ever you go find a similar problem that empty acres of land sewer are full of plastic waste , cups , bottles and polythene.
This plastic pile , like other similar lying by our roadsides or accumulating in empty lots or chocking up water bodies , thumbing its nose at India's ambitious intent to phase single use plastic like straws and cups by 2022 , announced by Prime Minister Narender Modi on world environment day. Condition is how much worse you can observe by this fact like much of the world , India is struggling to dispose its growing quantities of plastic waste given how ubiquitous it has became from our toothbrushes to debit cards. India generate close to 26,000 tonnes of plastic a day , according to a CPCB estimate from 2012. A little over worse thing that about 10,000 tonnes plastic remain uncollected.
Uncollected waste end up in the environment in seas and oceans or pilling up in our land which makes a fertile land in a barren. A study says that by 2050 the amount of plastic in seas and oceans across the world will weigh more than the total weigh of fishes. And our plastic consumption is increasing day by day about 22 million tonnes plastic generated by 2020. Many online shopping companies claiming that they will decrease their dependency on plastic by time but reality is so far. Sikkim was a pioneer in banning plastic bags as far back as 1998. Complete banning of plastic is so difficult so plastic users should provided better alternative for that, which are not so costly and made aware about all these options.
Otherwise we should make ourself ready to live in a world where there plastic is in our food , our water and our bodies. Because we are not throwing garbage everywhere but we are also throwing our earth's future anywhere." It is worst time i know but it is best time because we still have a chance".
